Things2i is a spin-off company of the University of Parma dedicated to Internet of Things (IoT) and smart systems. With roots in academia and industry, combining extensive knowledge in Information Engineering and Economic Sciences, things2i leverages various technologies to provide innovation solutions in various areas, including: Industry 4.0, localization and tracking, proximity-based applications, surveillance/monitoring, and others.
Things2i research activity aims at providing pragmatic IoT-oriented solutions to several application domains. Strong academic ties with the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab in the Department of Engineering and Architecture and with the Department of Economic and Management Sciences guarantee continuous innovation.
Things2i relies on the use of several hardware and software information engineering technologies, currently available at the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, including:
IoT technologies: embedded systems with a large array of connectivity solutions (WiFi, IEEE 802.15.4, Bluetooth Low-Energy, SubGHz) and on-board sensors (such as Inertial Measurement Units and cameras);
distributed processing, with advanced on-board signal processing (dew computing), local processing at the network edge (fog computing), and centralized data collection and analysis (cloud computing).
Things2i also relies on the use of business administration tools for efficient evaluation of the economic impact, in the context of complex businesses and advanced factory processes, of the proposed solutions.
